Reception on the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Army Day
In her speech, Ambassador Aleksandra Đurović underlined that the exceptional bilateral relations between the two countries in recent years are the result of the personal relations and policies pursued by the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán.
She stressed that European integration remains Serbia's foreign policy goal despite the fact that conditions set before Serbia were not set before other countries during their integration process.
She also expressed her gratitude to Hungary for its support for Serbia on its EU integration path and the efforts that Hungary has made during its six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Ambassador Đurović particularly praised Hungary's visionary and courageous enlargement policy and acceleration the EU integration process of the Western Balkans.
The attendees were also addressed by Henrietta Balajthy, Deputy State Secretary for Security Policy and Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, who emphasized that the relations between the two countries are at a historical peak.
In her review of the bilateral relations between Serbia and Hungary, she emphasized that Serbia serves as an example to other countries in terms of relations towards national minorities and respect for their rights.
Balajthy stated that Hungary continues with the policy of the acceleration of EU integration process of the Western Balkans and emphasized Serbia's will to continue with European integration and Hungary's support for Serbia on that path.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, military attachés, representatives of Hungarian institutions and the Serbian community in Hungary.
