Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Demo Beriša visits Budapest

The Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue of the Republic of Serbia, Demo Beriša, paid a two-day official visit to Hungary on February 19th and 20th.

During his stay in Budapest, he visited the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, where he met with Ambassador Aleksandra Đurović.

As part of the visit, a meeting was also held with Miklós Soltész, State Secretary in the Government of Hungary responsible for relations with religious and minority communities. On that occasion, it was assessed that the relations between Serbia and Hungary serve as an example when it comes to the protection and advancement of the rights of national minorities.

Minister Berisha also visited the Self-Government of Serbs in Hungary, where he spoke with representatives of the Serbian community about the challenges they face in their daily work and discussed possibilities for further strengthening the Serbian community in Hungary.

During the visit, a meeting was also held with Ferenc Kalmár, a representative of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, at which the need to intensify the work of the Intergovernmental Mixed Commission for Cooperation was emphasized. This commission plays an important role in monitoring the realization of the rights of minority communities and in improving the overall relations between Serbia and Hungary.
